A Gift for Grandma on Mother's Day
Filling an Empty Nest With a Chihuahua
Empty Nest Syndrome is a term used to describe the feelings or behaviors of parents or, as is the case with many, mothers, triggered by their children growing up and leaving home.
To fill the gap, and loneliness, in their lives that results from their children leaving and taking off on their own, many people turn to pets.
Thus, when we adopted our little chihuahua, Chika from the Humane Society last year, my wife jokingly decided that Chika should fill the empty nest that was forming in our home as a result of the children growing up and moving on.

I am Too Young to Be a Grandfather
In this vein, my wife decided that, rather than being the family pet, Chika should be the grandchild that our children have yet to give us.
I quickly objected and said that SHE could choose to be Chika's grandmother but to drop the WE part as I was not only too young to be a grandfather, there was also no evidence of anyone in my family tree having been born with four legs and an tail.
Mother's Day with My Wife's Furry Little Granddaughter
However, the game is fun and, as part of my wife's doting on her little granddaughter, she has been teaching Chika how to model. My wife having done some professional modeling years ago in Russia.
Chika has proved to be an adept pupil and, as a result, has proved to be a great prop in many of my Hubs.
In this vein, Chika, not having a clue as to what she was doing, dutifully went through the motions posing for me as we prepared a Mother's Day surprise for my wife from her little granddaughter.
