In today's world people are becoming more creative in choosing a baby's name, unlike the recent past where most babies were named after various relatives. In addition to names and their meanings these sites also have advice on how to go about choosing a name for your baby. Most of these sites also have other baby related services. All of them are in English but, together they contain names from all over the world. As a test I checked out my own name, Charles which is commonly defined as manly, strong (as in manly) or, occasionally, rock. All of the sites below which had the name Charles defined it as man, manly or manly & strong indicating to me that they were consistent and in line with other, non Internet, sources I have checked in the past. In addition to giving the ethnic origin and meaning this site also gives variations in the spelling of the name for other nationalities. For instance, my name is Charles which is originally of German or Anglo Saxon (German tribes) origin. In addition to the meaning the site gives the spelling of my name in Dutch, Italian, Spanish, etc. It also gives common nicknames for the name. Finally, the site also provides fifteen lists of names that are associated with colors, plants, sports, etc.

Lists name in Irish, phonetic spelling, English spelling, paragraph size discussion of meaning and an audio button to hear the name pronounced.

http://www.babynames.org.uk/ A United Kingdom site that lists names for numerous nationalities, religions, etc. Has places to look up meanings of names as well as lists of names in various categories. I found site rather difficult to navigate in terms of finding a name quickly.
